One of the most important things a family can do is worship together. Children learn by experiencing and by watching what their parents do. Kids who do not spend time in prayer and worship as children will not be nearly as likely to seek it out as a teenager or an adult. Family ministry is important to us at Christ Church, as we try to meet the needs of every part of the family. We want to help equip parents to be faithful parents at home, teaching their children by example how to pray, and how our faith permeates every aspect of our lives. We also understand that parenting, as wonderful as it can be, can also be stressful. We offer parenting support groups, and help parents spend time with one another. We offer programs for all ages so that no matter what the makeup of the family, there is something for everyone at Christ Church.
We love children of all ages at Christ Church. The old adage says that “faith is caught, not taught,” which is certainly true. We also recognize that there is great benefit to passing on our faith stories and our traditions to our younger generations. We have a thriving Sunday School that meets during the secular school year for all children, pre-school through high school.
Sunday School meets at 10:15, between services in the Parish House.
We use curriculums from a variety of sources, and welcome all children to join us!
The Youth Group, for kids in 6-12th grades meets at various times outside of Sunday mornings according to the Youth Calendar.

Whenever Christ Church offers worship or programming, our professionally staffed nursery is open. Parents are always welcome to keep their children with them, however, the nursery is offered as an option for parents who would like to utilize it.
Sunday School begins with Pre-K classes on Sunday mornings, although all children in the nursery engage in stories and bible-themed crafts.
Beginning in August, we will offer a weekly Preschool Story Time one morning a week. Children not yet in school are welcome to come with an adult and sing bible songs, hear bible stories, make a related craft and share a snack. For more information, please contact the office.
We offer special events from time to time throughout the year that are wonderful family events for people of all ages. These include our Homecoming celebration in the fall, our All Hallows Eve party, our Christmas Pageant, Easter Egg Hunt, Parish Picnic and more. Watch the website and announcements for more information about our children-friendly events!

Elementary aged children often ask very difficult questions about their faith. They have heard bible stories, they’ve heard about Jesus and God, and they’ve started to become more aware of the world around them. As the ponder all of these things they wonder about how it all relates. We work hard to provide thoughtful and rich programs for children to continue learning the basics of the faith, from bible stories to worship, and help children understand the importance of faith in their lives.
On Sundays we offer Sunday School classes according to the following age groups: Pre-K – K, Grades 1-2, Grades 3-5. Our teachers offer thoughtful lessons with age appropriate activities, crafts, and snacks.

The Christ Church Episcopal Youth Community or EYC meets once a week on Sunday afternoons/evenings for fellowship, Bible Study, and prayer. On the first Friday of the month, EYC gathers for early morning breakfast before school at Waffle House on SSI. In November and December, the EYC assists with the parish-wide food collection for the needy by sorting canned goods. Once or twice a semester, EYC ventures out on day trips such as kayaking or visiting Cumberland Island. For the past two years, EYC has participated in REACH Workcamps as its week-long summer mission. EYC meetings are open to 6th – 12th graders.
